Healing the Pain of Abortion

Rachel’s Vineyard, a program for healing from an abortion experience, runs weekend retreats, that offer a beautiful opportunity for healing to any woman or man who has struggled with the emotional or spiritual pain of an abortion.

The retreat is a chance to get away from the daily pressures of work and family, to focus on a painful time in life, and to begin healing through a supportive and non-judgmental process.

Rachel’s Vineyard retreat, written by Theresa Karminski Burke, PhD, focuses on God’s love and forgiveness in a non-judgmental environment.  The retreat is open and welcomes individuals of all denominations.  Rachel’s Vineyard strictly respects confidentiality and privacy.  For more information call the confidential phone number: 250-762-2273, or email [email protected].  You may also check out the Rachel’s Vineyard website at www,rachelsvineyardkelowna.com

Dr. Theresa Burke and Kevin Burke LSW are the founders of Rachel’s Vineyard Weekends for Healing after Abortion, now offered around the world.  They are recognized as leaders in the field of trauma and healing.  Their programs are known and highly regarded for their compassionate reverence for each person’s dignity and worth.

Rachel’s Vineyard Weekends are an opportunity for any person who has struggled with the emotional or spiritual pain of abortion.  The weekend is a very specific process designed to help participants experience the mercy and compassion of God.  It is also an opportunity to surface and release repressed feelings of anger, shame, guilt and grief.

Each weekend is run by volunteers who care deeply about the needs of participants, Many of the facilitators have suffered the same loss.  The weekend is a chance to get away from daily pressures to focus on the buried emotions of the past in light of present symptoms and begin healing through a supportive, trauma-sensitive process.  Rachel’s Vineyard provides a non-judgmental, safe environment.

Rachel’s Vineyard also offers Leadership Conferences and clinical training resources for many post-abortion ministries including Family Life offices, Project Rachel and numerous faith-based organizations.  Our retreats are held in both Catholic and interdenominational settings.

God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
(2 Corinthians 5:19)

Even in the midst of difficulties and uncertainties, every person sincerely open to truth and goodness can come to recognize in the natural law written in the heart (cf. Rom 2:14-15) the sacred value of human life from its very beginning until its end, and can affirm the right of every human being to have this primary good respected to the highest degree.

(John Paul II)
